A professional translator is capable of translating an average of 3,000 words per day.
His translation capacity can go up to 4,000 words translated per day depending on the content of the text, for example when the same expressions are used repeatedly.
Two main cases can be distinguished:
Express translation of very short texts of an informative nature (emails, faxes of a few dozen words and a few pages)
Express translation of very short texts can be completed without reservation in a few hours since the amount of work required does not exceed the working capacity of a translator.
Express translation of longer documents and sometimes even of voluminous files and reports (several thousand words, several tens of pages) for a meeting or a conference.
While the express translation of very short texts can be entrusted to the diligence of a single translator, the express translation of long texts cannot always be carried out by a single translator and depends on several factors: the size of the document to be translated, the deadline requested by the client, the availability of the translators and the reviser in the language combinations requested and, of course, the price.
In the context of an express translation request comprising more than 3,000 words (about 10 pages), the work of the translation agency consists of matching these different parameters.

A large express translation can also be done without using a translation memory: when the document to be translated is large and contains several dozen pages, and the translation must be done urgently and expressly, and there is no translation memory appropriate to the context (which is the majority of cases), then it is advisable to divide the work among several translators and to submit their work to the supervision of an experienced reviewer. A proofreader is able to compare the original with the translation produced by several translators.
A translation proofreader performs an essential task that requires great concentration and thoroughness. The placement of a comma can change the meaning of a sentence, and the proofreader's role is to detect any spelling, grammar, or stylistic anomalies. An experienced proofreader can proofread about fifty pages a day, depending on the difficulty of the subject and style. If the destination country for your documents is not a signatory to the Hague Convention, you may need to take different steps, such as traveling to the appropriate consulate.
